V IEWPOINT Creating distinctive spaces Forbo Flooring Systems’ new Flotex Vision FR designs offer cruise and ferry operators complete interior design freedom onboard their vessels Forbo Flooring Systems is passionate about meeting customer expectations, which is why we have developed our new Flotex Vision FR designs specifically for cruise and ferry customers. Whether in cabins, leisure facilities, lounges, restaurants or bar areas, it is important for operators to invest in high-performance floor coverings that do not sacrifice design over comfort and safety. Flotex Vision FR offers a wide selection of designs to suit every area and application. The Flotex FR collection is regularly updated to reflect interior design trends and industry requirements, offering clients more than 500 products to choose from, as well as the option to recolour several designs. Our new designs include Maruis, a modern take on the traditional fleur-de-lis motif that balances between two colours; Arabesque, a traditional scroll design based on ornamental metal work that is available in subtle colourings; Trianon Border, which provides the perfect solution between corridors and main spaces; and Jaipur, a subtle, modern design that reminds guests of natural stone textures. Meanwhile, the new Mandala pattern offers operators the chance to create a more contemporary space. Influenced by Maori art, the pattern combines two different colours in a wave-like motif, allowing it to flow within a cruise space. Flotex Vision FR is ideal for marine applications because it encourages complete freedom of design it can be cut to fill spaces of any size and shape, and it features impervious backing so that crew can use both wet and dry cleaning methods. Its smooth textile velourlike surface makes it comfortable and warm underfoot, yet it is lightweight at approximately 1,225 grams per metre squared. The product’s acoustic properties also improve the onboard experience by reducing footfall noise, minimising disruption of neighbouring decks. Not only does Flotex FR keeps its original appearance over time, but it also provides a welcoming environment for guests. We are continuing to collaborate with designers, such as award-winning architect Mac Stopa, to provide cruise and ferry operators with a wide range of quality designs that help to create unique and distinctive spaces.
