Companies Castoldi, Deif and Zitron have developed new products that have been designed to improve passenger ship operations with faster, safer, quieter and more cost-effective ways to travel Engine room innovation Ventilation designer, manufacturer and supplier Zitron has released its low-noise fan called Mozkeeto, which is built using a sound-attenuating casing that produces less noise and is smaller, lighter and easier to install in comparison to other ventilation models. Typically, this reduces noise by around 10 to 13 decibels compared to similar-sized fans. Zitron also uses foam cartridges to make it easy to maintain ventilation during the lifecycle of a ship. By using less steel, it is also able to lower prices and protect the environment. Deif is continuing to enhance its marine power and energy control solutions. Combining simplicity with flexibility, Deif ’s AGC 150 Engine Drive Marine provides robust, cost-effective and user-friendly engine, pump and sprinkler protection, as well as the control that is essential for marine applications. It controls start and stop sequences, including fixed and variable speed functions, and it offers a range of configurable inputs and outputs including controller area network and Ethernet ports. The stand-alone controller comes with a shut-down module and has been tested to verify reliable performance in harsh environments. Castoldi has launched its largest waterjet propulsion system to date – the Turbodrive 600 H.C.T. – which is intended for use on ferries that travel speeds of up to 55 knots. The waterjet has an integrated gearbox and hydraulic clutch to improve propulsion and can be fitted in twin, triple or quadruple installations for larger vessels. In addition, the waterjet ’s oil-lubricated bearings, impeller shaft protection and unclogging system has been designed for seamless operation in sandy, dirty and shallow waters. MARKETWATCH: REPORT
