Cruise & Ferry Review - Autumn/Winter 2023

173 Port of Ålesund, Norway “The town of Ålesund is situated on the threshold of the Geirangerfjord and Hjørundfjord and right on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean. However, the town is best known for its unique art nouveau architecture. When arriving to Ålesund, guests have immediate access to the centre of the town and the beautiful buildings just a few metres from the cruise port. They also have a perfect view of Aksla Mountain, with 418 steps leading up to a restaurant and viewpoint. The excursions have very short transfer time and most of the attractions and activities are within walking distance of the port.” Monica Berstad Mælan Manager, Ålesund Cruise Network Port of HaminaKotka, Finland “The Port of HaminaKotka, the easternmost port in the Finnish Gulf, is located on the southeast coast of Finland, where the rapids of River Kymijoki rush to meet the sea. The port’s nature and parks, location by the archipelago, and friendly people combine to provide a memorable and picturesque visit. Cruise ships up to 220 metres long can berth in the city centre on Kotka island in Kantasatama, while vessels of any sizes can use the pier space in the Hamina and Mussalo port areas. Furthermore, we can offer turnarounds in both Kantasatama and Hamina.” Kimmo Naski, CEO Port of HaminaKotka
