In addition to curating background music for the spaces, Music Concierge has also provided technology for the ship’s entertainment and enrichment team. The technology gives them fingertip control of the music, as well as the ability to schedule music in sync with the ship’s itinerary or geographic location. Explora Journeys is just one of several cruise lines capitalising on Music Concierge’s more than 15 years’ experience supervising the sound in land-based hotels and resorts to enhance the guest experience on their ships. Working in collaboration with CFC, Tomas Tillberg Design refurbished the staterooms and some public spaces onboard the vessel, which formerly operated as Holland America Line’s Maasdam. It used premium materials, elegant furnishings and a harmonious colour palette to complement the ship’s existing classic architecture while also introducing modern elements. “We were entrusted with revitalising some areas for this iconic vessel, and we approached the project with unwavering dedication,” said Nedgé Louis-Jacques, partner and senior vice president of design at Tomas Tillberg Design. “Our team meticulously analysed every aspect of the ship, seeking opportunities to enhance functionality and aesthetics. The synergy between CFC, our design firm and Finnish contractor Makinen fostered creativity and enabled us to put together a full design package within just two months.”
