OneOcean is expected to be installed across the Princess fleet by the end of February 2023. The passenger experience is also getting an eco-friendly boost with the company’s environmentally themed digital series, Ocean Treks Conservation Connections, which airs on its YouTube channel. During the series, environmental ambassador Jeff Corwin focuses on environmental management, wildlife conservation and sustainability in the destinations visited by the fleet. The 28 episodes also look at the recycling, energy efficiency and food waste management systems onboard the ships as well as shore power, advanced water treatment systems, advanced air quality systems, and the LNG technology that will be featured on the new ships from 2024. “Ocean Treks Conservations Connections is a terrific way to highlight all the many ways our teammates are doing their part to protect our land, sea and air resources,” says Padgett. Finally, new technology that connects the onboard and onshore experience is front and centre with the brand’s recent addition of MedallionPay in select ports. “This allows guests to use their Medallion [a wearable device] to pay for goods and services ashore while also receiving seven per cent cash back in the form of an onboard credit that can be used for any onboard purchases,” says Padgett. “We also have introduced Princess Prizes, which turns every stateroom entry into a chance to win a host of prizes, from free cruises up to $100,000 in cash.” Princess Cruises’ most recent newbuild, Discovery Princess, during sea trials in December 2021
