Cruise & Ferry Review - Spring/Summer 2025

109 REPORT Northern Ireland-based marine outfitter MJM Marine has worked extensively within the marine outfitting industry for over 40 years, collaborating with brands including Carnival Corporation, Royal Caribbean Group, Norwegian Cruise Line, Virgin Voyages and The RitzCarlton Yacht Collection. The company offers a complete project management service, along with bespoke and turnkey outfitting, through its in-house design and manufacturing facility. In 2024, MJM Marine completed its largest refurbishment to date with the project on Aroya Cruises’ flagship Aroya. The ship, which formerly sailed as World Dream for Dream Cruises, was purchased by Cruise Saudi, a subsidiary of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, in 2023. Following this, the 19-deck vessel, which has capacity for 3,364 passengers in 1,678 cabins, was redesigned for the Arabian market in the largest-ever refurbishment undertaken in the cruise industry. MJM Marine was contracted to complete large parts of the ship including upgrades to existing cabins, suites, opulent dining areas, restaurants and modern entertainment facilities. The team was extensively involved in all stages of the comprehensive refit, including during the initial surveys and design development in Singapore. Team members then worked onboard the ship during a dry dock in Rotterdam in the Netherlands before the ship relocated to Bredo Dry Docks in Bremerhaven, Germany, and finally sailed to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to enter service in December 2024. “This project demonstrates our ability to deliver a complete end-to-end solution for our clients and reaffirms our position as a leading outfitting provider in the marine industry,” says Gary Annett, CEO of MJM Marine. “By working closely with Aroya Cruises, its stakeholders and our trusted partners, we have created a vessel that not only delivers on our client’s vision of ‘Remarkably Arabian’ but also celebrates the opening of a new sector within the industry.” Aroya: a record-breaking outfitting project Northern Ireland-based marine outfitter MJM Marine drew on over four decades of experience to successfully complete its largest cruise ship refurbishment to date
