The Ship Of The Future - an industry celebration

[ 84 ] THE SHIP OF THE FUTURE SB25A double wall panels. The cabin doors are of high sound insulation type. The cabin doors are not equipped with ventilation grids but the air ducts are designed to sit at the bottom of the bathroom unit through which the cabin ventilation passes on its way into the air grids on the walkway wall panels. These designs effectively improve noise reduction and therefore the comfort of living accommodation. Each cabin’s TV is an embedded installation, with the wall board constructed of a non-standard integral TV protection cover and open socket hole. The fire doors adopt the style of a low threshold and decorative frame, which has far more elegance than the style of an ordinary protruding wallboard. The sensor (in the form of a limit switch) is concealed, and the installation side of the door frame is enlarged to cover the angled coupling hole of the hull structure. The bathroom unit ceilings meet the requirements of Grade B15 and the wall panels meet the requirements of Grade B0 fire separation, with the side plate of the unit chassis extended to the deck without leaving a gap. The unit’s coloured sand floor is also made from certificated materials. The water supply pipe and drainage pipe of the unit are made of 316L stainless steel and the wash basin is a customised DuPont Corian integrated basin. In addition, in order to achieve a contemporary and pleasing appearance, most of the hardware in the sanitary unit is customised, to the great satisfaction of the shipowner and shipyard. “ The air ducts are designed to sit at the bottom of the bathroom unit through which the cabin ventilation passes on its way into the air grids on the walkway wall panels.
